The International Business department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln hosted a workshop where teams had to develop an export plan for a Nebraskan startup business to go global. Teams had to address the following in the export plan:

  1. National and business culture,

  2. organizational design,

  3. STEEP and PESTLE analyses,

  4. market research and analyses,

  5. entry strategy,

  6. marketing strategy,

  7. ethical considerations, and

  8. CSR.

the answer

We developed an export plan that allowed Brand Hydraulics Co to enter the Thailand market. The Thai agriculture market was a great choice for Brand Hydraulics Co’s first global venture because the competition was few and they can enter as an indirect exporter by partnering with a distributor, thus the risk is low. This could be a great way to get their feet wet before expanding further globally.
